We Chose Bacon Spam Sandwiches for Dinner
And we did not even have to. In our opinion the newish version of :spam4: that says, 'with real Hormel bacon' is tasty sliced thin, fried crispy, and served with mustard for me on sourdough, and BLT style for the wife on diabetic style toast.
But hey, we aren't even down to our last bite of other stuff and :spam4: was what we actually wanted. It was even the wife's idea. So our preps won't be that bad to eat, even in the :spam4: section of the pantry. (which I had been dubious about the wife going for) I recommend giving bacon :spam4: a taste test in your household. |

Maybe my tastes aren't too refined. I tried the bacon spam, and thin sliced and fried it tasted to me pretty close to regular spam thin sliced and fried.
Not that it's a bad thing. I like Spam. |

Goodbar, it did not taste like pure bacon to me, but not like regular :spam4: either. It had a nice bacony addition to basic spam, or that is how my taste buds registered it.
My penny pinching for more time of having food makes pure bacon a luxury we have so little of it might be birthday dinner or something. |

Been canning ham and bacon for the last couple years at a quarter the cost of this stuff. There is a thread on canned bacon here on GIM that will show you how to do it.

AM, I eat regular spam by slicing it pretty thin and frying it. You can even get it crispy if you care to wait long enough to cook the water out of it, but be careful I don't think it tastes good too over-cooked. I think regular Spam has a good amount of bacony taste when fried that way to begin with.
I got some of the bacon Spam and cooked it the same way. It had been a few months since I'd cooked up some spam so I didn't have a recent experience to compare it to. But I remember that when eating the bacon spam it didn't stand out to me as being alot more bacony than regular. I don't know if it was my cooking style, my tastes, or my memory that made the difference. |
